ON THE ROAD WITH HOLDEN
There's something so magical about the magic hour. When time stands still, just for those few moments... the fiery blaze of sun as it sweeps across the sky, lighting up our world with colors so pure and pastel.
For me, chasing sunsets and a sense of adventure go hand in hand. Some of the most memorable and glorious sunsets I have witnessed are those where we pulled over at the side of the road, just to stop and take it all in. It's definitely one of the things I appreciate the most about living in Australia; being able to drive around the city and country with ease.
Recently I took a trip out to Victoria's Yarra Valley, wine country to the North-East of Melbourne (an easy 1.5 hour drive and a highly worthwhile trip!). Between wineries, as we were travelling in a convoy of cars, we somehow managed to make known to each other that THIS was a sunset we needed to stop and pay attention to. It just so happened that there's a little ridge off the side of the road as you travel along Maroondah Highway, just past Rochford and Ezard by Levantine Hill wineries. It's a small little entrance that you might miss if you weren't looking for it that opens to a patch of grass with simply, the most ideal views. To one side there were endless vines with mountains to cap off the perfect backdrop. Swivel to your other side and you have these big trees lining the path that make for a gorgeous silhouette to the blazing sunset.
